Revelation Chapter 9 - Nafisa's Case, Verse, words 17-20 is also a reference to the case of Nafisa, a young woman who confessed that she had committed fornication with a married man. This was revealed by Allah to the Prophet, peace be upon him.
Nafisa's case was followed by other similar cases of'minor' offences. Though the verse in S Surah At-Tawbah seems to be referring to a legal case.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, did not disclose any of the minor details of the revelation, such as how she could be sure that she had indeed committed fornication with the young man who had raped her or how she had come to meet him.
The revelation specifically mentions only the name of the young man who had raped her. This is common practice among holy books of the Muslims and Jews.
